ARCHITECTURE
construction
In recent years, the ‘Setouchi Triennale’ has gained global attention. Works by Tadao Ando, such as the ‘Chichu Art Museum’, ‘Benesse House’, and ‘ANDO MUSEUM’ are located in Naoshima, the festival’s central venue. ‘Setouchi Retreat Aonagi’ stands alongside these as one of the representative ‘Ando Architectures’ of the Seto Inland Sea. The building, once partially open as a museum, has been renovated. It has been reborn as a small luxury hotel overlooking the Seto Inland Sea.
FACILITIES
Although we have only 7 rooms, we offer a variety of facilities, including our iconic 30-meter outdoor “Infinity Pool” that seems to merge with the Seto Inland Sea on the horizon, and the indoor heated “Private Pool & Sauna” with a sauna overlooking a hot spring jacuzzi and garden. The outdoor pool is typically open for swimming from early July to early September, while the indoor pool can be reserved for private use year-round.
SIGHTSEEING & ACTIVITIES
Calm seas, majestic nature. Time that flows slowly. A variety of pleasures await you in the area surrounding our hotel, which is located within the vast Setonaikai National Park. It can also serve as a convenient base for sightseeing, with attractions such as Dogo Onsen, the oldest hot spring in Japan, and the “Setouchi Shimanami Kaido” that connects to Hiroshima and Onomichi.
